One week down

 Well, we made it through our first solid week of Pre-K.  There were a few tears, but mostly smiles this week from these two big kids.

 One whole week of "big school" is a big accomplishment so...

we had to celebrate, of course!  Friday after school we went to Braum's for some yummy ice cream.  It was the perfect way to cap off the week and cool off too!

 What a week!  This has been one of the busiest weeks ever here at the Mills house!

We started out the week with a visit from Nana and Judy.  They were passing back through our neck of the woods on their way back from St Louis, so we met up with them at Souper Sweets.  Kate and Ryan were thrilled with their Cookie Monster cupcakes!  I wish we'd have been able to have these for their Sesame Street birthday a few years back - they were SO cute!

 We had to squeeze in one last picnic with some yummy Papa G's pizza, of course!  It was a beautiful day to be outside together.

 We took these little gifts to "Meet the Teacher Night" at school.  Kate and Ryan were very excited to see their new classroom and meet their new teacher.

 And last, but certainly not least, my little babies headed off to their first day of Pre-K!!!  They were a little nervous, but mostly just super excited to start going to "big school"  This is the first time they will be gone to school for so long (8:10am-3:15pm) so it's a big change for all of us!

 We stayed for a few minutes to make sure they were all settled in.  They signed in for the day...

 and played with friends...

and looked at a book.  And then we gave them hugs and left.  They did great!  No tears at all.  I'm SO proud of my big kids - can't believe this day has finally arrived.  Time flies!

Super Hero Date Night

 Monday night was date night at the Mills house.  Daddy and Kate went to dinner and the park and Ryan and I went to Super Hero Night at Chick-fil-a.  After much deliberation, Ryan decided to wear his Spider Man costume.

 Can I just say again how much I LOVE the good folks at Chick-fil-a?  They really went all out to put on a special evening for the kids.  All of this was completely free of charge and open to the community.  They had 4 inflatables, a dunk tank, a photo booth, pictures with Super Heros, a make-your-own sundae booth, make a mask booth, and a fire truck and police car the kids could sit in and work the sirens.  Ryan was SO excited to be there - he even got to have ice cream before dinner (a big step for this mama!)

 I think Ryan's favorite part was seeing all of the costumes.  He not only loves to dress up, he likes checking out everyone else's ensembles as well. 

We had SO much fun!  It was a big night for this little crime fighter!

 Here's what we've been up to this past week at the Mills house:

We finally made it to the city pool for a pool day!  For some reason, we've had a really hard time finding a time to go, so here it is August, and we were just able to squeeze in a day of fun in the sun with our friends, The Prescotts.

 And after our trip to the pool we had to stop off for a sno cone of course!

 We've also been hard at work on our letters so we can be ready for Pre-K.  For this activity, I wrote the alphabet out on paper and Kate and Ryan used Q-tips and paint to trace over the letters.  They thought it was pretty fun!

 What could be better than crafting in your ninja costume, huh?

I had to post this pic from K's Frozen workbook.  She is doing such a great job practicing writing - she doesn't even need to trace the letters first.  Can't believe my big kids will be off to Pre-K next week!

Lake Day and Frontier City

 What a busy weekend!  The weekend before last, we decided to make a quick trip to see our families in Stillwater and Edmond since we really hadn't been either place all summer long.  We spent Saturday out at Lake Keystone with Papa and Grammie.  It was HOT but a great day to be out on the lake! 

 This was Kate and Ryan's first time to ride Big Bertha - they LOVED it!

 And no trip to Keystone is complete without a stop at Pier 51 Marina.  We had to get push up pops, bottled water, a tank top for me, and Matt even found a bottle of Diet Coke with his name on it.

 Sunday, we met up with Nana and Poppy for lunch at Cracker Barrel.  After lunch we headed over to Frontier City.

 This was Kate and Ryan's first trip to Frontier City and they LOVED it too!

 Again, it was HOT!  But we found ways to stay cool - as demonstrated by Nana and I here.  We were also thankful for the log ride and the river rapids ride, which soaked us down pretty good!

I love this picture - here are my 2 little indians, hard at work, rowing their canoe.  K is all smiles and R is the sheer face of determination.  What a fun weekend!
