Toy Story movie night

 Our last movie night (kind of sad we are to the last one already) was Toy Story!  We all really LOVE this movie, so I saved it for last.

 On the menu:

Pizza Planet pizza (actually a local favorite, Papa G's)

Sarge's salad

Green Alien milkshakes

 Ryan very much enjoyed his pizza and the fruit on top of his salad.  He said he'd try the broccoli (lettuce) and he did, but then decided it wasn't for him.

 The Green Alien milkshakes were a hit.  I just added green food coloring to vanilla ice cream, then topped them with a little cool whip and green sprinkles.

Ryan decided that Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Rex would enjoy seeing the movie too, so he set them all up on the tray in front of the TV.  

We are now headed to Disney in a few short days, so look for a post when we return from the happiest place on earth!

Cars family movie night

 This week's family movie night was Cars.

 On the menu:

Lightning quick chili dogs

wheels and axle rod pasta salad (made with wagon wheel and penne pasta)

Sally's stop light sundaes

 The sundaes were a HUGE hit and really fun to make.  I saw a similar idea on Pinterest, but for mine, I spread peanut butter onto chocolate wafer cookies and then added the red, yellow, and green M&M's.  Matt and I had to stop and think for a moment about in which order the colors would go on a real stop light- guess its something I never really notice when driving around! 

Since it was bath night at our house, Kate and Ryan took a bath and enjoyed movie night in their pj's.  This little guy was pretty excited to wear his Cars pajamas (anyone who knows Ryan knows how much he likes to "dress up" for an event!)

One more movie night to go before the big trip!!!

Peter Pan family movie night

Last night's family movie night was the classic Peter Pan.  I was pretty excited about this one, mainly because I really like Peter Pan.  It is an older Disney movie, made in 1953, so its a nice, clean movie with a mother and father and kids who don't back talk them or say "shut up" or "moron."  Much as I like the newer Disney movies, it is difficult as a parent to a 3 1/2 yr old to explain that just because a character says it , doesn't mean we can.  Of course, Peter Pan does use the term "injun" which I don't really want them to say either, so I guess no movie is without some type of lesson!  Now then, I can step off my soap box and tell you more about our night.

Pirate Ship Pizzas (why yes, those are lean cuisine french bread pizzas!)

Pirate's gold (corn)

Cannon balls (black olives)

Peter's Peanut Butter kiss cookies

 For this movie night, the kids got to dress up.  Ryan was a pirate (and sadly, that was the ONLY bandanna in our entire house, but Ryan didn't mind) and Katie was a fairy (and had her Tinker Bell dress on).  They really liked the food this week (as did Matt) especially the kiss cookies.   

We are now 20 days from Disney!!!  Stay tuned for 2 more movie nights before we head out!

Tangled family movie night

 This week for family movie night, the theme was Tangled.  This was a really fun one, especially because Kate and Ryan LOVE this movie!

 On the menu this week:

Rapunzel's angel hair pasta

braided bread sticks

Maximus' apples and snickers dip (yum!)

 Once again, Tinker Bell sent tickets to the kids in the mail (and once again, it was VERY exciting for them).  They are really proud of the tickets and like to keep them to play with after the movie nights.

Katie even wore her Rapunzel dress to watch the movie.  Hard to beat a cozy blanket and a good movie! 

Monsters Inc. family movie night

 As many of you know, we are planning a totally huge little trip to Disney World in a few weeks.  To help us get in the spirit of things, I thought it would be fun to plan a few of the Disney family movie nights that I've seen floating around on Pinterest.  Boy were Kate and Ryan THRILLED to find that Tinker Bell herself had mailed them 2 tickets to Monsters Inc. family movie night (I was so glad to find these tickets on Pinterest and not have to create something on my own!)  

Tonight's menu:

Sloppy Sulley's (Sloppy Joe's)

Mike's Mac n' Cheese (Monster's Inc shaped Mac c' Cheese)

Boo's Brownies 

 We read the Monsters Inc book during dinner and then it was off to the show!  I punched their tickets just like on Polar Express (another favorite movie at the Mills house) 

Kate had to bring all of her stuffed Monsters Inc characters to watch the movie with us.  This night turned out to be really fun and now I am looking forward to the rest of them!

We LOVE this girl!!!

We had a visit this last week from one of my very favorite girls, my sweet niece, Jordan.  We really love spending time with her and are SUPER excited that she will be starting school at NOC-OSU this fall and living with my mom and dad in Stillwater. What a special treat to get to see Jordy when we go to see grandparents too!

As it would turn out, we were very blessed to have Jordan with us this week since I got sick and she was able to help out with watching Kate and Ryan when I had to go to the Dr.  We also got to do some fun stuff, and ended our visit with a trip to the mall in Tulsa to pick her out a new back pack for school.  I liked the zebra print back pack with the hot pink straps.  Miss Sensible opted for the charcoal gray option...kids!!!  What can I say???
